Emergency Lighting & Commissioning

Emergency lighting services

Emergency lighting is an essential element of the health and safety policy of any non-domestic building. If the main lighting system in the building stops working because of a fire, power cut or fault in the lighting system itself, it’s vital that people can safely find an exit and leave the building.

Emergency lighting is mandatory under The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to ensure that, in the event of a mains supply interruption, the building is not plunged into sudden darkness, posing danger to the occupants.

VB Electrical provides a comprehensive emergency lighting service and we install, test and maintain emergency lighting systems for organisations throughout the Derbyshire area.

Emergency lighting installation

Our highly experienced engineers can install all types of emergency lighting systems, including:

  • Emergency escape lighting – to enable people to navigate safely to an exit
  • Escape route lighting – to allow evacuation of a building as quickly as possible
  • High risk task lighting – for hazardous areas where dangerous processes need to be considered
  • Open area lighting – to prevent panic in large open areas
  • Standby lighting – to cater for mains failure and allow normal work to resume

Servicing and testing your emergency lighting

Whether you have self-contained emergency lighting, a central battery system, or a static inverter, it’s important to have a regular schedule in place for serving and testing your emergency lighting system.

We will thoroughly inspect your system and advise on any updates that may be required to ensure it fully complies with the latest regulations.
